LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS

Most of our rings and jewelry can be crafted using either natural or lab-grown diamonds. The pre-selected diamonds we offer both natural and lab-grown are of H/SI1 quality. You can view these pre-selected diamonds on each product page or by visiting collections. Looking for a different quality? Reach out to our diamond experts for personalized consulation .

HISTORY OF LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS

Lab-grown diamonds, synthetic diamonds, laboratory-created diamonds, or cultivated diamonds whatever you call them represent a remarkable innovation in gemology. For decades, scientists have pursued the goal of creating diamonds, and the first successful attempt occurred in the 1950s. These early diamonds, produced through high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) techniques, were of poor quality and were mainly used for industrial purposes, such as in cutting tools and dental instruments.

The landscape of lab-grown diamonds changed dramatically in the 2010s, with the advent of advanced production techniques. These modern diamonds are indistinguishable from natural diamonds in appearance and quality, sparking significant interest and demand. Today, lab-grown diamonds are widely recognized as an ethical and sustainable alternative to mined diamonds.

HOW LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS ARE MADE

As the name suggests, lab-grown diamonds are created in a laboratory environment using advanced technology and precise expertise. Two primary methods are used to produce these diamonds: Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT). Both processes replicate the natural formation of diamonds under controlled conditions.

Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
1. Methane or another carbon-rich gas is introduced into a vacuum chamber.
2. Using microwaves, the gas molecules are broken down, releasing carbon atoms.
3. These carbon atoms accumulate on a substrate a tiny diamond seed—much like snowflakes accumulating during a snowfall.
4. Over time, the carbon deposits grow layer by layer into a diamond.

High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT)
1. A small carbon seed is exposed to extreme heat and pressure, mimicking the conditions deep within the Earth’s mantle.
2. Under these conditions, the carbon seed transforms into a diamond.

Both processes produce diamonds that are physically, chemically, and optically identical to natural diamonds.

CERTIFICATION OF LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS

Our lab-grown diamonds are certified by three of the most respected institutes in the diamond industry: IGI (International Gemological Institute), GCAL (Gem Certification & Assurance Lab), and GIA (Gemological Institute of America). Among these, IGI is the most advanced in certifying lab-grown diamonds, which is why we primarily rely on their expertise.

Certification is available for:
– Round diamonds starting at 0.30 carats
– Fancy cuts (non-round shapes) starting at 0.50 carats

If you need certification for diamonds smaller than these weights, it may incur additional costs. Contact our diamond experts for detailed guidance on certification options.

WHY CHOOSE LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS?

Lab-grown diamonds offer a sustainable, ethical, and cost-effective alternative to natural diamonds, without compromising on beauty or quality. Here are some key benefits:

1. Eco-Friendly: No mining is involved, which reduces environmental impact.
2. Ethically Sourced: Free from the concerns associated with conflict diamonds.
3. Affordable Luxury: Generally more budget-friendly than natural diamonds of comparable quality.
4. Identical to Natural Diamonds: Lab-grown diamonds are identical to mined diamonds in every way, from their brilliance to their durability.

Whether you are considering a lab-grown diamond for its ethical values, sustainability, or exceptional quality, our team of experts is here to help you make the perfect choice.
